For the podcast Chasing Sleep (Sleep.com x Mattress Firm), I originated the core concept, pitching the idea of taking sleep content beyond the bed — creating a show that wasn’t designed to put listeners to sleep, but instead to explore why sleep matters, how people around the world approach it, and how rest fuels performance and creativity. I collaborated directly with the Mattress Firm and Sleep.com teams to develop the format and narrative direction, ultimately securing the greenlight for two seasons.

As part of the launch, I also wrote and directed the animated trailer, designing it as an invitation into a rich, dreamlike world. The script and visual treatment move from the heart of a safari to the expanse of outer space, using surreal transitions to reflect the imaginative landscapes that emerge when we sleep.

I guided the creative development from concept through final delivery, shaping story, tone, visual language, and audience experience. The podcast was nominated for the 2024 Shorty Award in the Health & Wellness Podcast category, recognizing its cultural resonance and thoughtful approach to the science of rest.

The result is a cinematic and expansive entry point into the series, positioning sleep as both essential and deeply human.

Role

Executive Production Partnership Strategy and Creative Development

In partnership with Chase Freedom, Outspoken, iHeartMedia’s LGBTQ+ podcast network, celebrated National Coming Out Day with a special live taping of Straightiolab at the newly opened Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, followed by an afterparty at the legendary Stonewall Inn.

Known for their sharp wit and irreverent humor, the Straightiolab hosts took a irrevant look at the act of coming out, blending comedy and cultural commentary in a space steeped in queer history. The night featured a guest appearance from Raquel Willis, and marked a major win for the Outspoken network, bringing together community, culture, and comedy under one roof.

I led the creative development for the event experience and contributed to the partnership strategy and sale, helping bring this celebration to life at one of the most meaningful sites in LGBTQ+ history.

In 2022, I co-founded Outspoken, iHeartMedia’s first podcast network created by and for the LGBTQ+ community, alongside writer and activist Raquel Willis.

As Executive Producer and Creative Lead, I helped build Outspoken from the ground up—developing the creative direction, managing talent, and shaping the sound and spirit of the network. Day to day, I worked closely with hosts to craft and evolve their shows, from concept and tone to format, identity, and rollout. I also led the greenlighting of new originals and guided the transition of existing podcasts into the network’s roster.

Under my leadership, Outspoken grew into a major force in the audio space—generating over $2 million in partnership revenue through collaborations with leading brands, and becoming a first-of-its-kind network rooted in queer voices and perspectives.

Highlights include:

  • Tell Me Something Messy — hosted by Brandon Kyle Goodman, an honest and hilarious deep dive into identity, relationships, and self-acceptance
  • Afterlives — a powerful true-crime series exploring the life and death of Layleen Polanco
  • Queer Chronicles — a diary-style show featuring LGBTQ+ youth from legislative battleground states
  • Cruising Confessions — produced in partnership with Gilead, inspired by Sniffies’ community stories
  • Fighting Words with George M. Johnson

Outspoken didn’t just celebrate queer voices—it amplified them. The network brought
authenticity, humor, and depth to the forefront of podcasting, setting a new standard for how LGBTQ+ stories could sound and feel in mainstream media.

In collaboration with iHeartMedia and Pushkin Industries, Incubation explores humanity’s relationship with viruses, tracing how pathogens like SARS-CoV-2, influenza, HPV, and smallpox have shaped our lives and how science has risen to meet these challenges. The podcast, hosted by Jacob Goldstein, examines how viruses disrupt and redefine everything from daily routines to global systems.

I reimagined the show’s signature black line artwork as a timeline for the animated promotional trailer, guiding viewers through key moments in viral history. As the line travels through time, vibrant visual effects replicate the mutation and duplication of viruses, creating a dynamic, ever-evolving journey. The animation culminates with the timeline, forming the podcast’s striking cover art and connecting the narrative to the series’ visual identity.

To bring this all to life, I designed storyboards that solidified the tone and feel, developed the script copy, and sourced footage to craft a piece that captures the show's essence while drawing audiences into its world. The result is an engaging trailer that sets the tone for a series as impactful as its subject matter.

For Symptomatic, a podcast exploring the realities of living with undiagnosed conditions or diseases, I designed both the show art and the animated trailer, ensuring the video felt rooted in the world of the podcast’s visual identity.

To convey the anxiety and uncertainty of the journey to diagnosis, the animation incorporates imagery like X-rays, CT scans, and other medical visuals, reinforcing the relentless cycle of testing. The trailer brings these elements to life with a creative approach that mirrors the tension and complexity of the show’s themes.

By blending impactful visuals with cohesive design language, the trailer immerses viewers in the podcast’s narrative, offering a powerful introduction to its thought-provoking stories.

The life and legacy of Layleen Xtravaganza Cubilette-Polanco are at the heart of AFTERLIVES, a show that honors trans people and the stories that have reshaped our world.

Known to light up a room, Layleen was an Afro-Latina trans woman in New York City who was sentenced to the city’s notorious jail complex on Rikers Island. She died there in 2019, at the young age of 27.

This 7-episode series celebrates Layleen’s vibrant life through memories from her family of origin and the community she discovered in New York’s famed ballroom scene.

The series unpacks the systems that failed Layleen leading up to her death at Rikers through in-depth interviews with activists fighting against the criminalization of sex work, solitary confinement, and the epidemic of anti-trans violence.

AFTERLIVES is the story of Layleen’s life and the fight that continues in her name today.

Spit

Brand: 23&Me

For Season 2 of Spit, the iHeartMedia and 23andMe podcast, I led the creative development and pitch strategy that reimagined the show’s entire format. Instead of a single host and single guest structure, I tapped 23 existing iHeart podcast hosts, including Minnie Driver and Dr. Laurie Santos, and challenged each of them to craft an original episode answering one central question: “If your DNA revealed certain health insights, what would you do with that information?” This approach brought a dynamic range of voices and personal perspectives to the series. I also directed the animated promotional trailer that launched the season and highlighted the refreshed creative vision.

For this Puma Fenty and Refinery29 collab, we teamed up with an all-girl band to turn a high school into the music video set of their dreams. They brought their own energy to spaces like the pool, locker room, girls’ room, and gym, making each location feel alive. The day ended in the gymnasium, where the bandmates picked up their instruments and delivered a performance in the latest Puma Fenty collection.

This project was all about blending music, fashion, and self-expression into something ;real. The video lived on social, while the photos found a home in an article on Refinery29, pulling the whole story together.

I worked with Danielle Cadet, then Managing Editor at Refinery29, to develop and shape the concept for Go Off, Sis, a podcast born from Refinery29’s Unbothered community. Together, we built the editorial POV and tonal direction for a show designed to speak directly to the realities, humor, ambition, vulnerability, and joy of modern Black women.

We then partnered with My Black Is Beautiful, Procter & Gamble’s haircare line celebrating the diversity of Black identity and beauty. Through that collaboration, we created an original podcast platform that amplified stories with cultural impact—not by explaining Black womanhood to others, but by holding space for Black women to speak to one another.

Hosted by Laurise McMillan, Danielle Cadet, Raven Baker, and Channing Hardgrove, Go Off, Sis centered real conversation—navigating work, relationships, identity, self-care, and community with honesty and ease. Our creative development and launch strategy helped establish a foundation that the show continues to build on
today.
